My view of kickboxing is simple,
The best in terms of boxing, combined with the best in terms of kicking.
We teach basic boxing skills through drills, pad-work, bag-work, partner training and sparring (controlled).
Kicking is done in much the same way except we have additional pads and kick shields.
Most members of the club have a background in other sports such as Boxing, MMA, Karate, Wrestling, Judo, Taekwondo and many others, so can always advise newer students.
We welcome anyone who wants to try kickboxing.
Lesson starts at 20:00 on a Wednesday and finish at 21:30.
20:00 to 20:30 Bag work, shadow boxing, skipping (basically your preferred warm up).
20:30 to 20:50 Exercise and Stretching
20:50 to 21:30 Boxing and Kicking with pads
Pad-work consist of varied punch and kick combinations which if practised on a regular and consistent basis will develop your fitness and technique.
Don’t worry about kicking and flexibility as we generally work basic kicks, although we have no restrictions and encourage all kicking techniques (above the belt of course).
During the first Wednesday of every month we encourage a little bit of very light sparring although this is a choice and not compulsory.
If you do decide to take part you MUST have the following equipment
Gum shield, Boxing Gloves (16oz), Groin Guard and Foot Pads.
